Tom and Huck traveled the Mighty Mississippi while these four young brothers and their good friend traveled a ribbon of blacktop and concrete in a worn-out 1947 Divco milk truck. They traveled at the top speed of 38 MPH across America from Riverside, California, to deliver their older brother to his permanent duty station in Washington, DC. It was the summer of 1970, a unique and special time in our nation's history with the turbulent 1960s in our country's rear view mirror. You'll share in their many misadventures. They swim and do their laundry in rivers, lakes and an occasional water trough. They cheat death many times; swimming in snake-infested rivers and somehow avoid being smashed by big rigs while navigating the highways and byways of America. They meet a lot of strange characters and now they have to make their way back home.
