The practice of Lectio Divina or Sacred Reading is method involving prayerfully interacting with scripture. This practice is helpful as a tool to activate the transforming power of the Word in one'sy life. In this method short passages of scripture are read several times with periods of reflection and quiet between the readings. The normal practice in reading any book is to master its content, but mastering the Bible is not the focus of Lectio Divina. That focus is to let the Word master the reader.
