Description
In 1940, Jean Thomas wrote a version of the Hatfield McCoy feud story and included it in her book Big Sandy. This version is, quite simply, a fiction almost from beginning to end. It is not history and should not be taken as such, though it often is. In this edition, I have offered extensive commentary to point out the places where the fictions that Thomas creates diverge from what we now know as fact.
