Il décrit aussi comment la maladie chronique se conjugue au pluriel, offrant ainsi un autre regard sur la notion médicale, aujourd’hui centrale, de comorbidité. Il fallait cette enquête au long cours pour comprendre le sens humain du « chronique ». Elle montre combien vie et maladie chronique en viennent à s’entrelacer au point de se confondre. C’est aussi une réflexion émouvante sur la relation de l’anthropologue à son « objet » d’étude : une femme de souffrance et de chair.
