Fort d'une longévité rare, Noir Désir s'est imposé en trois décennies comme un maillon essentiel du patrimoine musical français. Des « Sombres héros » au « Vent nous portera », Bertrand Cantat, Serge Teyssot-Gay, Denis Barthe, Frédéric Vidalenc puis Jean-Paul Roy ont drainé dans leur sillage plusieurs générations de foules conquises par leur poésie en colère et leur rock revendicatif. Brutalement interrompue à la suite des événements tragiques de Vilnius en 2003, la carrière du groupe s'est officiellement éteinte en 2010. La carrière de ses membres, elle, se poursuit toujours, post-mortem. Léonel Houssam, ex-Andy Vérol, auteur d'une première biographie de Noir Désir en 2008, a choisi de raconter aussi l'après. Au fil de ses recherches, il a notamment croisé la route de Serge Teyssot-Gay. Entre entente et confiance, cette biographie est alors devenue un ouvrage hybride dans lequel chaque individu concerné s'est passionnément impliqué. Serge Teyssot-Gay y livre l'essence des processus créatifs qui naissent des rencontres humaines et artistiques jalonnant son chemin. Avec leur éclairage, Theo Hakola, Paul Bloas ou encore Éric Arlix apportent également leur contribution à la construction de l'édifice. Avec Noir Désir, post-mortem, Léonel Houssam convie à une écoute nouvelle, décalée et personnelle de l'histoire singulière d'un groupe unique.
