« À la suite des furieux cataclysmes nucléaires s’étant déroulés entre 2109 et 2112 la terre est devenu une planète difficilement, si ce n’est complètement inhabitable. Un future « multi-planétaire » est devenu une exigence déterminante. Une migration s’impose. Ainsi pour faciliter l’exploration des exo- planètes situées hors de notre système solaire, on a décidé de construire un ascenseur spatial. La station terminale de celui-ci devant servir de base de départ pour les futurs engins allant explorer les confins de notre système solaire. En effet plus de 90 pour cent de l’énergie embarquée est utilisée par un astronef pour simplement échapper à la gravité terrestre. Ce n’est qu’en lançant les engins à partir de cette station, en position Géo-stationnaire, que l’exploration spatiale devient une proposition vraiment réaliste. Tout va bien sauf qu’en 2535 une vibration d’origine inconnue englobe tout le système solaire. Tout déraille et en particulier le ruban de nanotubes, constituant critique de l’ascenseur, est entré en résonance et risque de se rompre...éjectant ainsi dans l’espace interplanétaire la station spatiale et ses 352 occupants. Pegasus, un être particulier car partiellement « Bionique » doit monter vers la station pour sauver ses occupants ......
