Pourquoi faire écrire un roman par chacun des élèves de sa classe en 6e ou en 5e ? Parce que mettre ses collégiens en situation de produire un roman, c'est susciter l'intérêt et le désir d'écrire, mais aussi : - changer leurs représentations mentales de l'écrit ; - modifier les enjeux de l'écriture ; - apporter une aide personnalisée pour remédier aux difficultés et utiliser au mieux les compétences de chacun ; - familiariser les élèves avec différents types d'opérations : planification, automatisation, rédaction du texte et révision ; - transformer le jeune narrateur, conscient de son savoir-faire, en un lecteur vigilant ; - permettre aux élèves de s'approprier les processus cognitifs mis en œuvre dans l'écriture d'un roman ; - leur procurer le plaisir de voir leur premier roman achevé. Cet ouvrage propose à l'enseignant une démarche pédagogique et des séquences adaptées à certains des chapitres à rédiger, en fonction du temps imparti et du thème choisi pour le roman. Un éventail de fiches à remettre à chaque élève facilitera les différentes tâches à effectuer. Loin d'être une gageure, ce projet s'appuie sur la recherche d'un double plaisir à partager : celui de l'écriture, indissociable de celui de la lecture.
