La mystérieuse Ysera, Aspect draconique vert, rêve, elle, d'un possible avenir terrifiant : l'Heure du Crépuscule. Elle confie une mission apparemment sans importance à Thrall. Entraîné à travers les terres d'Azeroth, l'Orc se retrouve pris dans un voyage dans le temps. Allant à la rencontre des anciens Vols draconiques, il les découvre divisés par la méfiance et les querelles. Ces dragons constituent des proies faciles pour les serviteurs d'Aile de Mort, qui disposent d'une nouvelle arme épouvantable... un cauchemar vivant conçu pour exterminer les gardiens ailés d'Azeroth. Avant que la vision apocalyptique d'Ysera ne se réalise, Thrall doit se défaire de ses doutes et aider les Vols draconiques à faire face au Crépuscule des Aspects.
