Bekannt ist Kunst durch regelmäßige Abdrucke seiner Gedichte im Feuilleton der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung. Sein neuester Gedichtband "Was wäre ich am Fenster ohne Wale" zeigt sensible Erzählungen aus dem persönlichen Kontext. Ein lyrisches Ich berichtet: Mitteilungen wie Flaschenpost, intime Briefe - Kommunikationsversuche. "Die Dichtungen und lyrische Prosa Thomas Kunsts zeichnen sich durch opulente Bildphantasie, durch eine hohe Musikalität der Textkompositionen und Wortmagie aus.
