Description
Nach der Besetzung und Aufteilung Polens durch das Deutsche Reich und die Sowjetunion wurden die 1939 im sowjetisch besetzten Ostpolen lebenden Volksdeutschen von einer SS-Umsiedlungskommission umgesiedelt. Die größte Gruppe waren mit ca. 65.000 Menschen die sogenannten Wolhyniendeutschen. Die Arbeit beschreibt die an deren Umsiedlung beteiligten, meist erst zu diesem Zweck geschaffenen, Dienststellen des Dritten Reiches und deren Arbeit, den Weg der Wolhyniendeutschen aus dem Osten Polens durch verschiedene Lagertypen im Generalgouvernement, im Reichsgau Wartheland, auf dem Territorium des Altreichs und - für die weit überwiegende Mehrzahl der Umgesiedelten - wieder zurück in den Warthegau. Es wird u. a. untersucht, welche Pläne dem Vorhaben der Nationalsozialisten zu Grunde lagen und wie die NS-Rassenideologie konkrete Auswirkungen auf Einbürgerung und Zuweisung einer neuen Heimat für die Umgesiedelten hatte.
