Die Autorin zeigt, dass der Controllingerfolg durch ein prozessorientiertes Controlling gesteigert werden kann, sofern Mitarbeiter ihr Verhalten entsprechend anpassen, indem sie ein Prozessdenken und -handeln adaptieren. Versäumen Unternehmen allerdings, dieses bei den Mitarbeitern zu fördern, können trotz der Anwendung von Prozessmanagement-Praktiken kaum Effizienz- und Effektivitätssteigerungen erzielt werden.
