Slapstick bedeutet eine besondere Art der Filmkomödie, in der eine physische, häufig wortlose, körperbetonte Komik als filmisches Stilmittel eingesetzt wird. Im Roman SLAPSTICK berichtet die Protagonistin von ihren turbulenten, sie fast schon in die Verzweiflung treibendenden Herzens-Kapriolen mit humorvoller Distanz und der Fähigkeit, sich nicht ganz so ernst zu nehmen. Das filmische Stilmittel sucht auf der literarischen Ebene seine Entsprechung: Slapstick in Worten.
