Menschenrechte und Frieden gehören zusammen und stehen doch in einem komplexen Spannungsverhältnis. Innerstaatlich wurden und werden Menschenrechte nicht immer gewaltfrei erkämpft und selbst auf friedliche Proteste reagieren repressive Regime oft mit brutaler Unterdrückungsgewalt. Zwischenstaatlich werden Menschenrechte gegen staatliche Aggressionen von außen verteidigt oder sie dienen als Grund für militärische Interventionen gegen hochrepressive Regime. In den oft emotionsgeladenen und situationsbezogenen Diskussionen um Völkermord und schwerste Menschenrechtsverbrechen fällt es pazifistischen Positionen oft schwer, Gehör zu finden. Die Beiträge in diesem Heft leuchten das komplexe Verhältnis zwischen Menschenrechten und Frieden aus, sei es aus historischer, philosophischer, völkerrechtlicher, sozialwissenschaftlicher und/oder pädagogischer Sicht.
