Meditation und Fotografie haben vieles gemeinsam: Beides ist auf den gegenwärtigen Moment bezogen, beides erfordert einen höchsten Grad an Aufmerksamkeit, beides gelingt am besten, wenn der Geist von störenden Gedanken frei und unvoreingenommen ist. Hoffmanns Basis bleibt jedoch stets die Fotografie. Mit seinen stimmungsvollen Bildern von Landschaften, Städten, Menschen und Naturmotiven, seinen klugen Bildanalysen und instruktiven Texten erschließt der Autor dem Leser eine völlig neue Betrachtungsweise, ohne dabei die handfesten Kriterien der Bildgestaltung und Aufnahmetechnik aus den Augen zu verlieren. Besonders für die Menschen, die glauben, hauptsächlich durch perfekte Beherrschung der Technik gute Fotos zu erzielen, ist dieses Buch eine Bereicherung. Denn es führt vor Augen, wie wichtig es für das kreative Handeln ist, sich auf die eigene Intuition einzulassen. So ist es Ziel dieses Buchs, den Leser zu einem eigenen fotografischen Ausdruck anzuregen. Für die Zweitauflage wurden zahlreiche neue Bildbeispiele verwendet. Außerdem wurden etliche neue Kapitel zu Themen wie Meditation in der Landschaftsfotografie oder der Fotografie von Lost Places neu aufgenommen. Zudem beweist der Autor, dass ein meditativer Ansatz in keiner Weise einem kritischen Blick widerspricht.
