本書收錄一九三七年出版的《且介亭雜文》、《且介亭雜文二集》,以及《且介亭雜文末編》。 ▌《且介亭雜文》▌ 本書收錄了魯迅於一九三四年所撰寫的三十六篇雜文。當時住在上海半租界的魯迅,懷有強烈民族自尊心,痛恨帝國主義,對於居住於租界,他的心中有著難以啟齒的羞憤之情。「且介」一詞,在本書所指的是租界,「且介亭」則意指上海半租界的亭子間。魯迅不願將國家的「禾」與「田」交給帝國主義勢力,也諷刺了當時中國所處的半殖民半封建局勢。 ─道學先生是躬行「仁恕」的,但遇見不仁不恕的人們,他就也不能仁恕。所以朱子是大賢,而做官的時候,不能不給無告的官妓吃板子。 ─…小心謹慎的人,偶然遇見仁人君子或雅人學者時,倘不會幫閒湊趣,就須遠遠避開,愈遠愈妙。 ─征服中國民族的心,這是胡適博士給中國之所謂王道所下的定義,然而我想,他自己恐怕也未必相信自己的話的罷。在中國,其實是徹底的未曾有過王道,「有歷史癖和考據癖」的胡博士,該是不至於不知道的。 當時魯迅無論在官方與民間,都面臨著紛至沓來的圍剿攻勢。他自承:本書「當然不敢說是詩史,其中有著時代的眉目,也決不是英雄們的八寶箱,一朝打開,便見光輝燦爛。我只在深夜的街頭擺著一個地攤,所有的無非幾個小釘,幾個瓦碟,但也希望,並且相信有些人會從中尋出合於他的用處的東西。」 ▌《且介亭雜文二集》▌ 本書收錄了魯迅一九三五年所撰寫的四十八篇雜文。魯迅從一九三三年到一九三五年,居住於上海租界,這個時期的魯迅被國民黨中央以「墮落文人」而通緝,文章無法發表,為此他曾多次更換筆名。 ─中國的一般的民眾,尤其是所謂愚民,雖稱孔子為聖人,卻不覺得他是聖人;對於他,是恭謹的,卻不親密。 ─現在的所謂諷刺作品,大抵倒是寫實。非寫實決不能成為所謂「諷刺」;非寫實的諷刺,即使能有這樣的東西,也不過是造謠和誣衊而已。 ─複譯還不止是擊退亂譯而已,即使已有好譯本,複譯也還是必要的。曾有文言譯本的,現在當改譯白話,不必說了。即使先出的白話譯本已很可觀,但倘使後來的譯者自己覺得可以譯得更好,就不妨再來譯一遍,無須客氣,更不必管那些無聊的嘮叨。 ▌《且介亭雜文末編》▌ 《且介亭雜文末編》出版於一九三七年,此時魯迅已逝世一年,本書收錄魯迅一九三六年的三十五篇雜文,魯迅於生前開始編輯,後經魯迅的學生兼伴侶許廣平編定。 ─凡活著的,有些出於心服,多數是被壓服的。但活得最舒服橫恣的是漢奸;而活得最清高,被人尊敬的,是痛罵漢奸的逸民。後來自己壽終林下,兒子已不妨應試去了,而且各有一個好父親。至於默默抗戰的烈士,卻很少能有一個遺孤。 ─我們需要的,不是作品後面添上去的口號和矯作的尾巴,而是那全部作品中的真實的生活,生龍活虎的戰鬥,跳動著的脈搏,思想和熱情,等等。 ─我的怨敵可謂多矣,倘有新式的人問起我來,怎麼回答呢?我想了一想,決定的是:讓他們怨恨去,我也一個都不寬恕。 在本書,魯迅不改對時事的批判眼光,因見到《申報‧兒童增刊》中,竟出現「中國人殺外國人應加倍治罪」的主張,便沉重的再次呼籲「救救孩子」,對民族前途發揮了沉重的吶喊。
