Também na área militar, ciência e tecnologia são reconhecidamente aspectos críticos, tanto para a estratégia, quanto para o próprio poderio militar dos países. O sistema de propriedade intelectual, por sua vez, é uma instituição fundamental para transformação das criações humanas - incluindo as tecnologias - em progresso e poder, por meio das inovações, que alcançam os mercados sob a forma de bens e serviços. O mesmo vale para as tecnologias de interesse da defesa e para própria indústria militar. Nesse contexto, os artigos desta publicação investigam de que forma as novas tecnologias e possíveis inovações na área da defesa relacionam-se com configuração e características do Sistema de Propriedade Intelectual e podem influenciar a formação de competências, o desenvolvimento e a própria estrutura do novo teatro de operações no Brasil e no mundo.
