本書將科學社會主義在近代中國的傳播和興起，放置于中國近代社會深刻嬗變的大背景下，系統介紹了西方社會主義學說在中國的早期傳播、以科學社會主義為主要內容的社會主義思潮在中國的全面興起，科學社會主義在中國早期傳播的社會歷史條件，深刻分析了科學社會主義被中國社會選擇的社會機理和歷史必然性。本書集中介紹了科學社會主義同中國革命、建設、改革密切結合，尤其是同中國新民主主義革命結合產生毛澤東思想，實現馬克思主義中國化第一次理論飛躍的理論深刻性、時間廣闊性和歷史合理性，既指出科學社會主義是中國共產黨必須長期堅持的科學理論，又必須同中國國情結合，在馬克思主義中國化進程中把科學社會主義理論不斷推向前進。

本書適合大中學生的國情教育和素質教育，也可作為碩士研究生相關專業的教學參考書。


張武，1947年1月出生于江蘇省揚州市寶應縣。研究員，武漢大學政治與公共管理學院科學社會主義專業博士生導師，湖北省哲學學會會長，科學社會主義學會副會長，孔子學術研究會常務副會長。歷任湖北省社科院科研處處長、副巡視員、鄧小平理論研究中心主任、湖北省社會科學界聯合會黨組成員、副主席、巡視員等職。主要從事哲學、中國思想史、科學社會主義研究。在人民日報、光明日報、《哲學研究》等報刊發表論文200多篇，撰寫和主編的著作十余部。主要著作有《哲學視野錄》（上下卷）、《鄧小平社會主義觀》、《湖北歷代思想家評傳》、《論解放思想的偉大作用》、《論發展》、《論堅持科學發展觀》等。

張艷國，1964年2月生，湖北省仙桃市人，中共黨員，歷史學博士，博士後，研究員、教授職稱，湖北省有突出貢獻中青年專家，江西省贛鄱英才“555工程”首批入選者。2008年12月起任江西師範大學副校長，現為華中師範大學中國近代史所博士生導師、江西師範大學馬克思主義學院博士生導師，主要研究方向為中國近現代史、馬克思主義中國化、思想文化與中國社會變遷。出版《張艷國自選集》、《破與立的文化激流——五四時期孔子及其學說的歷史命運》、《史學理論︰唯物史觀的視域和尺度》等學術著作多部；在國家權威報刊、中文核心期刊、CSSCI期刊發表論文百余篇。

喻承久，1949年生，空軍雷達學院哲學教授，空軍級專家。曾任湖北省哲學學會常務理事、湖北省科技倫理學會常務理事以及軍內學術職務多項。著有《中國市場經濟體制與道德同構》、《官德論》、《人生澄明之境》、《中西文化比較》、《中國軍人民族精神》、《崇高與平凡的對話》、《中國歷史文化》、《中西認識論視域融合之思》八部著作，．發表百余篇文章。獲國家級教學成果優秀獎、軍隊級教學成果一等獎、全軍教書育人金獎各一次，獲全軍政治理論成果一等獎1次、二等獎4次，獲湖北省社會科學優秀成果二、三等獎各一次。
