冰島因其地下充滿熾熱的岩漿而地上卻擁有遼闊的冰原，被稱為「冰與火的國度」；又因其位於大西洋一隅，緊靠北極圈，很少為世人所關注，被戲稱為「被上帝遺忘的地方」。盡管如此，這個人口稀少的島國卻擁有多個世界第一，比如它創建了歐洲乃至世界上歷史最悠久的民選議會，它的人均淡水資源擁有量、水力發電和地熱資源的使用比例均居全球之冠。本書全面、系統地介紹了冰島的政治、歷史、經濟、社會、文化、外交各方面的情況。 劉立群，男，1954年生於北京。北京外國語大學德語系教授（原為中國社會科學院歐洲研究所研究員），博士生導師，中國歐洲學會理事、德國研究分會副會長兼秘書長。1963年—1970年5月在北京外國語學校學習德語，1972年5月—1975年8月於北京第二外國語學院德語專業學習，1975年9月—1978年9月於北京化工二廠擴建外辦任翻譯，1978年10月—1981年9月於北京大學西語系德國語言文學專業讀研究生，獲碩士學位；1981年底—1993年3月於人民出版社任編輯、副編審，1993年4月至2008年6月於中國社會科學院歐洲研究所任副研究員、研究員（2001年起，兼中國社會科學院研究生院教授、碩士生導師）。2008年7月調至北外德語系任教授。研究領域：哲學理論、國際問題。
