2011～2015年，為促進中美圖書館間的學術交流，中國高校人文社會科學文獻中心（CASHL）和北美中國研究圖書館員學會（SCSL）共同在廈門大學、蘭州大學、四川大學分別舉辦三屆中美高校圖書館合作發展論壇。本書系三屆論壇入會論文選編而成，主要圍繞學術演變環境下的館藏發展和分享、特色資源的建設、地區研究資源的建設、周邊國家文獻資源的建設四個主題展開。值得一提的是，文後附錄內容對於讀者瞭解國內高校圖書館領域的具體情況非常有幫助。
