本書以“華僑華人與中國夢”為主旨引導，專注研究聯繫海外華僑華人最緊密的空間――僑鄉的全面發展。首先聚焦僑鄉社會發展變遷，研究華僑華人與僑鄉發展的關係、僑鄉的地位和作用及華僑華人在實現“中國夢”過程中所扮演的角色等。其次研究華僑華人與僑鄉社會、經濟、文化等各方面的聯繫，並選取廣東、福建、浙江、海南、廣西、雲南等僑務工作重點省份的典型僑鄉進行僑鄉發展地域差異研究。最後探討“中國夢”背景下的僑鄉差異性發展模式和保障措施。
