弗吉尼亞·伍爾夫是英國後維多利亞時期的重要作家，評論界對她的研究從其生前一直持續至今，由最早的現代主義形式技巧分析逐漸轉向政治文化語境批評，其中後殖民理論引導下的伍爾夫研究對其帝國女性身份進行了詳細的探討，為豐富伍爾夫的女性主義批評和還原這一時期的帝國歷史背景打開了視野。但這一研究在自我、他者、混雜性等理論術語的闡釋框架內論斷伍爾夫矛盾的帝國情結和模糊的女性身份，違背了伍爾夫本人對於父權壓迫與帝國戰爭之關聯的分析與批判。為此，本文在考察後維多利亞時期帝國文化轉型和女性發展模式的基礎上，結合伍爾夫的政治思想，選用敘事學中的情節結構、人物塑造和隱性進程等相關理論分析伍爾夫的敘事雙重性，探討她如何利用父權意識形態與帝國統治文化之間的互動關係，通過對父權的模仿、柔化、和選擇性認同，實現批判、改造有形帝國以及建構無形帝國的“帝國女兒”身份。根據伍爾夫所提出的殺死家中天使、建立局外人協會、走向雙性同體這三大核心思想的主題內容，本文選取了她的三部小說《遠航》、《達洛衛夫人》、《到燈塔去》作為主要分析對象，以期在二者的對照中真實還原伍爾夫的帝國女性身份。伍爾夫的核心思想與文本敘事在與兩種帝國文化對話中的對應關係不僅體現在女性定義自我的主題內容裡，而且隱藏于女性賦權策略與身份建構的微妙距離中，這對於全面揭示伍爾夫的帝國女性身份及其建構過程具有重要意義。
