By 施云江, 范娜著本书稿是《奉贤与货币起源》的修订本。《奉贤与货币起源》自2015年出版后，引起学术界和有关部门的高度关注。中央电视台＂中国地理＂栏目正在筹划专题节目；奉贤区政府计划以此为契机，打造本区的历史名片一一钱滩；据说有关历史研究机构有考古发掘的打算。在出版后的2年中，作者不断修改，共印制4次。同时，作者花大量时间，国内考察了四川成都、三星堆、甘肃天水、河北涉县、浙江绍兴和余姚、江苏常熟等地的博物馆和史志办，以及山东、江苏、上海、浙江等省的沿海地区及岛屿，国外又赴英国、德国、意大利等博物馆参观考察，还向全国县级以上博物馆投寄数千封征询信，从而获得了大量资料。同时，根据研究需要，阅读了大量著作文献。这次修改，几乎是重写。
