本书讲述了:四个孩子再次遇到沙精,并偶然得到了半个有着神奇法力的护身符.在博学的"穷学者"的指点下,他们获取了指挥护身符的咒语,并借助它的力量回到了遥远的过去,寻找丢失的另一半护身符.他们去了八千年前的原始部落,富丽堂皇的古巴比伦,即将沉没消失的亚特兰蒂斯,遇到了古罗马时代不可一世的恺撒,谒见了古埃及的法老.在神奇而惊险的穿越之旅中,孩子们遭遇过惊险的拘捕,战争的恐慌,也领略了古代文明的辉煌,并最终获得了另外半个护身符,实现了他们的愿望.
