《瓜饭楼重校评批〈红楼梦〉》汇集了冯其庸先生数十年来红学研究各方面的重要成果，是一部全面解读《红楼梦》精义要旨、着力发掘《红楼梦》微言大义的文化巨著。《瓜饭楼重校评批〈红楼梦〉》包括对《红楼梦》正文的校订，对《红楼梦》文句、段落的评批和每回的回后评，对《红楼梦》写作的历史背景、作者家世和特殊语句的笺释等。冯其庸先生的评批主要有三种形式：一是眉批，置于每页书眉处，主要是对于《红楼梦》的段落文字所作的点评；二是夹批，置于正文中，小字双行排版，主要是对于《红楼梦》中包含深意难以索解或精彩独到令人拍案激赏的词句所作的；三是回后评，置于每回文末，为本回之总评，分析评议本回之精义。评批文字不仅有冯其庸先生的评批，同时择要录入了甲戌本、己卯本和庚辰本上的脂评，以便读者参究。评批文字均为朱色，以区别于正文的墨色，故而此书采用双色印刷，观之既条理分明、脉络清晰，又给人以视觉的舒适。
