Description
Červen 1781, Anglie. Na háku v deptfordské loděnici je nalezeno tělo. Umučené k smrti a s vypálenou otrokářskou značkou. O pár dní později přijme kapitán Henry Corsham — válečný hrdina, který má před sebou slibnou kariéru poslance v parlamentu — nečekanou návštěvu. O pomoc jej přijde požádat sestra jeho dlouholetého přítele, vášnivého abolicionisty Tada Archera. Ten se prý chystal odhalit tajemství, které by mohlo britskému obchodu s otroky způsobit nevratné škody. Tvrdil, že se ho někdo snaží zabít. A teď se po něm slehla zem… Henry se pustí do pátrání. Jde po Tadových stopách a dostane se hluboko do nitra konspirační sítě, kterou se jeho příteli podařilo odkrýt. Ohrozí tím nejen svou politickou kariéru, ale i rodinu.
