Social work is a profession and social science is committed to the pursuit of social justice, to quality of life, and to the development of the full potential of each individual, group and community in a society. Despite the excellent work being done on a daily basis, we should not be complacent about the scale of the challenges being faced by social workers today. Lack of focus on both individual and organizational learning, with little opportunity to share good practice or learn from mistakes our aspiration is to make a real and lasting difference to the experience of those people who use social work services as their career and everyone in the social service workforce. Social workers help clients who face a disability, life-threatening disease, social problem, such as inadequate housing, unemployment, or substance abuse. Social workers also assist families that have serious domestic conflicts, sometimes involving child abuse. The functions of social work are to change individuals and institutions with respect to individual social welfare. It is regarded as a basic perspective of social work, cognate with social treatment. Community developers must understand both how to work with individuals and how to affect communities' positions within the context of larger social institutions. There are complementary definitions of community development. The volume covers all important issues pertaining to the theme.
