Men andre ting kan vi vite ganske sikkert: Det fantes en mann som het Jesus, som levde i Galilea mens området var okkupert av romerne. Han var kjent for å være en håndspålegger, og han utfordret makten til både de jødiske prestene og de romerske lederne, slik at han til slutt ble arrestert og drept. Dette er historien om Jesus, mannen som fikk tiden oppkalt etter seg. Renate Nedregård (f. 1977) er forfatter og journalist fra Bergen. Hun har en Cand. Mag.-grad med historie og sammenliknende politikk i fagkretsen, og har bakgrunn fra NRK Dagsrevyen og TV 2-nyhetene.
