De Cronos a Kairós relata las, no siempre fáciles, relaciones del autor con el tiempo a lo largo de su vida. Desde los años de su primera juventud hasta su jubilación, su trayectoria vital ha estado, en su mayor parte, programada de antemano por azarosas circunstancias, y dominada por Cronos, en un mero suceder de tareas y obligaciones, no del todo deseadas. Tras su jubilación siente que por primera vez tiene que enfrentarse a un tiempo nuevo, susceptible de convertirse en un tiempo de plenitud, creativo y productivo; un tiempo de Kairós. Nos muestra el espinoso tema del tiempo desde distintos ángulos: el psicológico, el filosófico, o el de la ciencia física que llega incluso a dudar de su propia existencia. Las consideraciones sobre el pasado, el presente, el futuro, la percepción del instante, se entremezclan con situaciones vivenciales interconectadas, en las que se alternan las notas de humor y de drama que componen la melodía de la vida.
