La presente obra constituye una parte del trabajo y de la investigación doctoral de su autor. Dentro del contexto de su estudio sobre daoísmo y comprometido con una divulgación de la doctrina china desde su identidad distintiva y diferenciadora, su análisis sobre el daoísmo en Occidente y el desarrollo de la sinología en Europa permite formalizar un repaso de la recepción del pensamiento chino, concretándolo en el daoísta, en la filosofía Occidental. En este estudio se agrupan múltiples búsquedas bibliográficas para generalizar la visión de China desde el Renacimiento hasta la Ilustración a través de sus principales autores, referentes del filosofar de la época. Impugna opiniones partidistas de interpretaciones que favorecen un determinado orientalismo en autores como Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer y justifica su interpretación del filosofar chino como una Weltanschauung. Su análisis alcanza a Nietzsche, Jaspers, Bloch y Heidegger y, con ello, pretende fundamentar una hermenéutica filosófica adecuada para enfrentarse al fenómeno filosófico chino, y por extensión, oriental.
