El presente estudio tiene una doble finalidad. La primera consiste en demostrar que El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha, la obra suprema de la literatura universal, llena de sabiduría y de erudición clásicas, no pudo ser escrita por el «ingenio lego» Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, tanto por la escasez de sus estudios como por la ajetreada vida que llevó, muy alejada de las características favorecedoras de la creación literaria. La segunda finalidad consiste en la demostración de la autoría de Juan Luis Vives, nuestro primer y más universal humanista, mediante la metodología comparativa de los textos quijotescos con las obras latinas del valenciano. En la comparación se aportan centenares de argumentos, más que suficientes para tener la seguridad de dicha autoría, la seguridad exigida en las ciencias humanísticas, como son la filología y la historia. Se aplica la misma metodología al muy debatido problema del descubrimiento del autor que se escondía bajo el supuesto nombre de Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda.
