Como ha escrito Josep Fontana en el prólogo, «podría decirse que Entrevista sobre el siglo XXI recapitula el conjunto de las "eras" de Hobsbawm y, muy en especial, la última, y nos enseña a leerlas con una perspectiva de futuro».
