Esta edición de sus Narraciones completas, que incluye piezas tan famosas como «La dama de pique» o «La hija del capitán» junto con muchas otras hasta ahora inéditas en español, ofrece asimismo las claves del peculiar romanticismo pushkiniano, rápido, templado y estricto. Sus héroes y heroínas —nobles bandoleros, húsares y cosacos, dandis de Petersburgo, princesas patriotas y señoritas novelescas— se ven envueltos en lances extraordinarios y gráciles mascaradas, pero son observados por un narrador que, además de dominar con habilidad extrema los recursos de la trama; es capaz de verla al trasluz, de contemplar con humor tanto lo romántico como la decepción de lo románti-co. Y, como dice Amaya Lacasa en su Introducción al volumen (que tan excelentemente ha traducido, con Clara Janés en los fragmentos en verso), «toda la futura riqueza de la literatura rusa está contenida en él como en un embrión».
