Desde su salida de Flandes hasta su trágica y temprana muerte, la obra repasa otros los hechos más relevantes de su vida: su matrimonio, la infidelidad e injusticias de su esposo Christian II, la posterior huida de Dinamarca tras la destitución forzosa y la denegación de ayuda por parte de su hermano Carlos V por sus simpatías hacia Lutero.
