El propósito central del presente trabajo es ofrecer una colección de puntos de vista sobre la vinculación entre migración y política que privilegie su enfoque desde los países no desarrollados del Cono Sur y México, y que además integre algunas miradas del sur que habita el norte, es decir, de aquellos inmigrantes originarios de América Latina que hoy viven en Estados Unidos o Canadá. Desde esta articulación, los textos que componen este libro se caracterizan porsu diversidad: de disciplinas, de enfoques teóricos y metodológicos, de miradas, de lugares y de actores sociales. Cada uno de los capítulos puede leerse de manera independiente,. aunque una lectura global ofrece la posibilidad de identificar algunas de las muchas aristas de un fenómeno tan complejo como el que se construye en las intersecciones entre el Estado y la ciudadanía en contextos marcados por importantes procesos de movilidad humana. De esta manera, ellibro se encuentra integrado por cuatro grandes partes: 1. Migración y política: algunas coordenadas para el debate; 2. Políticas migratorias; 3. Ciudadaníay participación política, y 4. Experiencias migratorias: cultura y política.
