A sedici anni duetta sui palchi del nord Italia con Nunzio Rotondo, l'esponente più importante del Jazz italiano, a diciott'anni è primo clarinetto e sax nell'orchestra di Bruno Canfora, poi in Svezia dove collabora con personalità come Lars Gullin (baritonista di Chet Baker) in Spagna dove lavora con Marlene Dietrich, Burt Bacharach e frequenta dive come Ava Gardner e Rita Hayworth. Ma il suo non è un romanzo semplice, nel '60 in Spagna, all'apice della popolarità, viene espulso dal regime di Franco per motivi politici. L'anno successivo sarà ricoverato in neurologia all'ospedale Maggiore di Novara in preda ad una grossa crisi. La sua storia però è una storia di rinascita, anzi, di rinascite. E allora Beirut con Giorgetti e Dalida, Tripoli con la Vanoni, poi Marsilia, Cannes, Monaco. E poi in giro per l'Italia con Morandi e Noschese, o a fare Jazz con giganti del calibro di Buratti, Tullio De Piscopo, Cerri e Sante Palumbo, sui palchi accanto ad icone come Ella Fitzgerald o Jerry Mulligan.
