Ma il destino cambia le sue giornate solitarie costringendolo a lasciare l'amata fattoria dove è cresciuto e a raggiungere un piccolo paese di pescatori affacciato sul mare del Nord, dove dovrà insegnare nella prima classe della scuola elementare. In questa nuova realtà cambierà vita e farà la conoscenza di un particolare gruppo di persone. Ognuna di queste, nel suo genere e a suo modo, saprà aiutarlo a scoprire possibilità che non credeva di avere, a provare sentimenti che non pensava di poter vivere e a cambiare occhi in un viaggio nel quale saranno tutti compagni.
