Aim and Objectives: The aim of the project was to identify areas in which Community involvement in information on best/good practices in the health sector would add value to the effectiveness and costeffectiveness of European health systems in terms of (public) health gain. For this purpose, the project had the following objectives: 1. to develop a framework for the classification of information on "best practice" in the health sector, focusing on activities, disciplines and methods for identifying, implementing and monitoring "best practice" ; 2. to outline the current methodologies, applications and limitations of "best practice" approaches in the EU Member States ; 3. to develop research and health policy recommendations for the Community based on the classification framework for information on "best practice" in the health sector.
