Description

In haar werk is advocaat Izzy McNeil gewend alle toevalligheden uit te zoeken en met elkaar in verband te brengen, maar in haar privéleven is dat een ander verhaal. Wanneer er in haar appartement wordt ingebroken, vlak nadat haar vriend Theo bij haar is ingetrokken, gaat er geen extra alarmbel rinkelen. Ook niet wanneer Theo wordt gearresteerd voor fraude. Pas wanneer haar buurvrouw dood in háár appartement wordt aangetroffen, kan ze niet langer negeren dat er meer aan de hand is dan zomaar een reeks verschrikkelijke gebeurtenissen. Dan pas gaat ze vraagtekens zetten bij een aantal dingen. Want waarom werd Theo eigenlijk een hypotheek geweigerd toen hij een huis wilde kopen? Was hij de laatste tijd niet vaak opmerkelijk stil? En waar duidde de onbekende man op die haar in een restaurant op niet erg subtiele wijze waarschuwde dat Theo eindelijk eens zijn verantwoordelijkheid moest nemen? Ondanks alles blijft ze in zijn onschuld geloven en slaat ze alle waarschuwingen in de wind. Zelfs wanneer ze door dat vertrouwen haar eigen leven in gevaar lijkt te brengen...
