Además, analiza lo realizado por los socialistas de Punta Arenas, dando cuenta de las diferencias existentes con sus pares del norte y que determinaron la forma en que se desarrolló la acción socialista en dicha ciudad. La apelación clasista, la utilización de la política institucional para obtener beneficios para los sectores populares y la estrecha vinculación entre las organizaciones sindicales y el partido, fueron los principales aportes del POS a la cultura política de la izquierda en el transcurso del siglo XX.
