林照真認為，「假新聞政治」說明假新聞為政治化名詞，已經成為民主社會的難題。臺灣更特別的現象是，混淆的國家認同製造政治對立，提供假新聞得以擴大政治操弄的舞台。源自中國大陸的陰謀論與宣傳，更隨時企圖崩解臺灣的社會秩序與民主價值。


全書共十四章。除全面梳理假新聞相關文獻外，另分別以傳播科技、政治對抗、平台產業等不同視角，聚焦分析國內外的假新聞現象。
