La metáfora tiene un lugar propio en el campo de la psicoterapia y se constituye en un medio eficaz para adentrarse en un mundo infantil. A través del deslizar de un cuento o un relato es posible mostrar al niño, en formar indirecta, un contenido propio de su inconsciente que permita la tramitación de aquello que de manera directa generaría mucha angustia. En esta obra se presentan una serie de metáfora que se utilizan en el contexto psicoterapéutico; El enfoque de la obra es psicodinámico y toma como base los aportes de Sigmund Freud con relacion a los cuentos infantiles.
