Se ha querido con este libro tratar algunos temas de la Resistencia de Materiales un poco avanzados o, si se quiere decir, un poco complejos, que en ocasiones no se tratan en algunos textos clásicos de la Resistencia de Materiales. De igual manera, es importante destacar que los temas desarrollados en este libro requieren de un lector que haya trabajado con anterioridad los conceptos básicos de la Resistencia de Materiales, ya que se parte del hecho de que éstos ya son conocidos y manejados adecuadamente, por lo que no se detalla en la explicación o desarrollo de estos. En el texto se tratan al inicio de cada capítulo los conceptos básicos necesarios para el desarrollo del tema. Seguido, se resuelven ejercicios aplicados. Éstos han sido seleccionados o desarrollados durante los varios años de experiencia del autor en el área, como profesor en diferentes asignaturas del plan de estudios de Ingeniería Mecánica, los cuales se han usado en exámenes y diferentes talleres durante el desarrollo de los cursos.
