Ο Αριστοτέλης, κάπου, είχε γράψει ότι το θαυμάζειν, το απορείν δηλαδή αποτελεί καθοριστικό στοιχείο γα τη γέννηση της φιλοσοφίας. Η φιλοσοφία λοιπόν, και γενικότερα η αγάπη για τη μάθηση, γεννιέται όταν κάποια ερεθίσματα δημιουργούν ερωτήματα που περιμένουν απαντήσεις. Αυτή τη γνώμη είχα πάντοτε - και συνεχίζω να την έχω - όταν απορίες από γόνιμες αναγνώσεις μου έδιναν τη δυνατότητα να προεκτείνω, έστω και στο ελάχιστο, τους πνευματικούς μου ορίζοντες.

Με βάση αυτή την αρχή οικοδομήθηκε σιγά-σιγά τούτη η εργασία. Απευθύνεται κυρίως σε μαθητές, χωρίς αυτό να στερεί τη δυνατότητα από κάποιον άλλο να προσεγγίσει το βιβλίο, που θέλουν να εμπλουτίσουν τις γνώσεις και τον προβληματισμό τους, προκειμένου να αντεπεξέλθουν στις δυσκολίες της γραπτής παρουσίασης των απόψεών τους στο μάθημα της "Έκθεσης Ιδεών".

Στόχος όχι να προσφερθούν λύσεις ή καταναλώσιμες απαντήσεις αλλά, όπου αυτό είναι δυνατό, η εργασία αυτή να αποτελέσει το ερέθισμα για προβληματισμό, για τη δημιουργία ερωτημάτων που θα πλησιάσουν ένα θέμα από περισσότερες οπτικές γωνίες. Άλλωστε ένας σπουδαίος Γάλλος στοχαστής, ο Montaigne συγκεκριμένα δεν είχε γράψει ότι "ο επαρκής αναγνώστης θα δώσει τόσες ερμηνείες σ' ένα κείμενο που ο συγγραφέας δεν τις είχε καν υποψιαστεί";
