DOL Said atau nama sebenar beliau Abdul Said lahir pada tahun 1773 di Naning, Alor Gajah, Melaka, berasal dari suku Semelenggang. Beliau adalah penghulu Naning yang kesembilan. Dol Said mula belajar ilmu mempertahankan diri atau seni silat sejak berusia enam tahun. Beliau seorang yang tekun mengaji, cekap dalam seni mempertahankan diri dan sentiasa dihormati orang ramai. Beliau dilantik sebagai Penghulu Naning meng-gantikan Penghulu Anjak pada tahun 1799 semasa berumur 26 tahun. Penentangan Dol Said berpunca apabila pihak British meminta Naning memberi satu per sepuluh daripada hasil pertaniannya. Dol Said enggan tunduk kerana menganggap Naning negeri yang merdeka.
