Exuvii a fost distins cu Premiul Asociatiei Scriitorilor Profesionisti din Romania pentru roman si a fost tradus in poloneza (2002) maghiara (2008) si fragmentar in franceza si germana. Enigmaticul titlu al cartii spune intr-un fel totul: caci „exuviile“ sunt pieile lepadate carcasele subtiri lasate in urma de fluturi atunci cand ies din pupe invelisurile naparlite ale vietatilor care crescand se transforma cu totul. La fel facem si noi cu ipostazele noastre vechi infantile imature pe care le ingropam in uitare. Simona Popescu ea nu poate si nu vrea sa le abandoneze: le strange le colectioneaza le suprapune intr-un timp prezent care ca intr-o sincronie perpetua aduna toate varstele precedente la un loc. Credinta ei este ca psihologia individuala identitatea personalitatea isi pierd consistenta daca renunta la pasii anteriori. Nu suntem doar ce suntem ci si ce am fost. Iar adevaratele abisuri ale fiintei se ascund in trecut in experientele instrainate ale avatarurilor care ne-au purtat numele.
