熱情與勤快，是鳥的基因。 The bird needs to be passionate and diligent. 工作ＤＮＡ鳥之卷 剛出社會不久的新鮮人，像是一隻鳥——剛剛孵化，開始要學習飛翔的小鳥。 小鳥面對廣闊的天地，好處是機會無窮，無限的空間任其展翅。但是小鳥也要注意自己到底要如何成長。小鳥的機會，就是你還沒有被環境、習慣、條件所侷限或制約，因此各種新奇的嘗試與可能，都在你的雙翼之下。 小鳥，需要熱情與勤快。 一九九八年起，《工作DNA》在中國時報的浮世繪版上，以專欄方式與讀者見面，連載一年多，佳評如潮。一九九九年，出版成書。 二００六年，作者於出版大陸版的同時，增加許多篇幅，而有修訂版問世。 再隔六年的二０一二年，作者大幅增訂修編，出版《工作DNA增訂三卷本》，把「鳥」、「駱駝」、「鯨魚」這分別代表「基層」、「中堅幹部」、「決策者」三種不同層次工作者的主題，各自獨立成卷，成為：《工作DNＡ鳥之卷》、《工作DNA 駱駝之卷》、《工作DNA 鯨魚之卷》。
