2002年適逢台灣新電影二十年，蕭菊貞拍攝了《白鴿計劃～台灣新電影20 年》紀錄片，採訪了當時參與新電影的影人，至今這部紀錄片已成為國內外硏究台灣電影的重要作品。2015年釜山影展二十周年，策劃了「亞洲電影的力量」單元，邀請亞洲十個國家的導演拍攝自己國家當代電影的發展。於是蕭菊貞又應邀拍攝了《FaceTaiwan－我們這樣拍電影》這部紀錄片，紀錄台灣電影從2001年最谷底的垂死邊緣如何在2008年創造戲劇性的反彈，而現在又遇到了什麼樣的抉擇？大師們如何再創高峰？年輕導演如何给自己爭到機會？電影如何面對台灣認同問題？如何吸引觀眾？ 

蕭菊貞紀錄的不只是台灣電影的現狀，也是電影中的台灣。但影片受限於時間長度，無法將這些電影人分享的故事豐富完整的呈現出來，希望將《白鴿計劃》和《我們這樣拍電影》兩部紀錄片的第一手訪談彙整，讓這群台灣電影人的不悔熱情和電影之外的真實人生留下紀錄。更希望這些內容對於想了解台灣電影發展的朋友們，提供一個回看的路徑與軌跡――
