亞洲第一位諾貝爾文學獎得主──詩人泰戈爾，在一般人認知中是印度人，但他的作品多以孟加拉語寫成，以目前國土界線來看，泰戈爾是孟加拉人。特別的是，印度國歌《人民的意志》和孟加拉國國歌《金色孟加拉》都使用了泰戈爾的詩句。
