孔廟文物與政治: 東亞視野中的臺灣府學文物

臺南孔廟存有與清帝密切相關且重要而醒目之文物，即高懸於大成殿的十五座御匾，為世界孔廟所獨見。它們不只保留來自大清帝國的八代皇帝的御匾原件，更及於臺灣至今的七位總統，成為孔廟視覺圖像的文物堡壘。

本書以少數僅存的臺南孔廟傳世之紀年文物為中心，重建其時空情境，試圖從最早的「萬世師表」御匾探索，及於到臺官員推動的神聖化政務，從他們記錄番民圍觀迎接御匾的盛況，不只具體闡述皇帝本身如何充當文物創作者，文物背後所隱藏的權力，及合法性視覺符號的強行輸入，更明示臺灣如何被鎖入儒家教化的帝國統治網絡。

同時，孔廟文物與政治關係的多元風格現象亦見於日本的德川幕府之湯島聖堂，及朝鮮王朝之韓儒太廟。這些釋奠儀物皆以祭孔尊孔為名，卻各有不同的社會基礎政治考量及時空情境，構成東亞十七、十八世紀的儒教美術表象。
