《撒母耳记·列王纪·历代志》课程分为上下两册。上册的内容为撒母耳记（上、下）和历代志上，下册为列王纪（上、下）和历代志下。旧约希伯来文圣经中，撒母耳记和列王纪两卷书不分上下卷，两者同属前先知书（参上册的「前先知书概览」），内容包括以色列立王的原委，以色列立王，王国分裂为南北两国，以及北国和南国先后亡国被掳的历史。本课程将撒母耳记和列王纪这两卷连贯的前先知书一併处理，并辅以历代志─一本建基于前先知书，在被掳归回时期编写的有关大卫王朝历史的着作。这种编排方式能更清楚地反映历史本身所发出的「先知的呼声」，向神的子民传达神呼唤人回转归向祂的信息。
